About the Festival
New Music Festival of the Pines (NMFP) is a bold new project from Third Stream Duo (3S²), in collaboration with the Weymouth Center for the Arts and Humanities. Held in beautiful Southern Pines, NC, NMFP features two days of hands-on learning for high-school-aged musicians and adult music lovers, as well as two concerts open to the public.
Equal parts classical concert, jam session, and TED Talk, NMFP offers you unparalleled access to unsurpassed performance.

Friday, June 14th

7 pm: 3S2: Resident Artist Concert (free & open to public)
Saturday, June 15th
*10 am – 11:30 am: Adult Program: “Become a Composer”
(Young Artists arrive around 11:45 pm)

Who is NMFP for?
Everyone! Our concerts have been generously sponsored by community members and are free and open to the public. Additionally, we offer two educational programs. Our Young Artist Program is intended for talented high school musicians, and our Adult Program is for all musicians and music lovers, including those with no prior experience.
Where are your programs held?
All programming will be held at the Weymouth Center for the Arts and Humanities. Located in the heart of Southern Pines, NC, this beautiful venue has been an artistic haven for over a hundred years. Formerly the home of poet and novelist James Boyd, Weymouth is now a non-profit organization that hosts writers in a unique residency program, as well as programming concerts and other cultural events. We are delighted to have the Weymouth Center as our indispensable artistic partners in creating NMFP.
I’m thinking of coming to a concert. What should I expect?
Our concerts are informal, eclectic, and fun. We believe that music is the most powerful form of connection between people, and music-making should be an experience to match. The opening concert features 3S² (Third Stream Duo), known for their performances of genre-crossing improvised chamber music as well as classical masterworks. Our closing concert will showcase the skill of the NMFP Young Artists, performing improvised and newly-composed works by Adult Program participants alongside the members of 3S².
How much does it cost? Where can I register?

Concerts: These are admission-free and open to the public, but donations are always welcome!
